Ex-Southampton Corporation Leyland Atlantean EOW 400L

This blog is to document the restoration of an ex-Southampton City Leyland Atlantean of 1972. The bus was purchased by two young enthusiasts in October 2014 for continued preservation with the aim for her to ultimately be back on the road for use at bus rally's and heritage events in the Southampton area.

We are active members of Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust who are involved in the preservation of vehicles associated with Southampton.

The history of 167 - EOW 400L and many other vehicles can be found on the official Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust website.

To date the work on 167 has been mainly getting a list of jobs required to gain an MOT and get the vehicle into a safe and reliable state. The inside has been deep cleaned by Tom and David. Tom and Will have also fixed down all the loose seats, sorted out the best cushions and put the others into storage and Tom has re-attached the advert holders in the lower saloon.

Hopefully more serious work on the bus will start later this month and continue through the good weather, as well as helping maintain other vehicles in the group.

The above photo shows 167 passing Portswood Depot on the 13 service to Thornhill in the livery we hope to restore her into.

More updates as progress is made.
